Local Integration Programme in Cyprus

A diverse group of migrant women residing in Cyprus have recently concluded a transformative 

journey through the Local Integration Programme as part of the TOGETHER WE CAN ERASMUS+ KA2 Adult Sector Project, held at the Synthesis Center from June to August  2024. This initiative aimed to empower participants by equipping them with essential skills and knowledge for their personal and professional growth. The programme saw women from various backgrounds and countries, who have been living in Cyprus for periods ranging from six months to five years, come together for an intensive 40-hour workshop series. The workshops were meticulously designed to cover a wide array of topics crucial for effective integration. Women built Personal Strengths and Social Skills through activities that boosted confidence, creativity and proactivity. Workshops created a supportive community where women shared inspiring stories and encouraged each other. They have navigated through the Labour Market learning about the Cypriot job market, receiving guidance on high-demand sectors and effective job-search strategies from expert facilitators.

Participants also developed employability skills focusing on essential employability skills, including business communication, CV creation, interview techniques, and networking. Training in problem solving, resilience, and personal finance was also provided. The aim was to boost confidence, motivation, and empowerment, helping women thrive professionally. Many participants reported increased self-confidence and clearer professional goals. Looking Ahead The success of this programme underscores the importance of providing support to migrant communities. As these women continue to integrate into Cypriot society, their newly acquired skills will undoubtedly contribute to their growth and the overall development of the community.
